Will Mooney
I am a son, husband, and father of twin girls in Nashville, TN. My passion is to help others live more fully in how they are made so that they can give more fully wherever they are.
Since 2005, I have been working with individuals and families in a variety of professional and pastoral capacities. As a therapist, my experience includes working with individuals and couples struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, crisis of faith, relational dysfunction, as well as many other complex mental health issues. It is a privilege for me to sit with my clients, hear their stories, and join with them towards hope and healing.
Activities that I enjoy are listening to and playing music, traveling, ultimate frisbee, and eating good food with good friends.
Will’s Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approach flows out of the belief that we are all made to live fully in relationship with God, ourselves, and others. However, to live fully means it is inevitable that we will experience loss and pain. In response to this, many of us shut off our hearts in order to survive. This self-protective move has rippling effects on every other aspect of our lives and our relationships. Counseling is a collaborative process that offers care and challenge within the safety of a therapeutic relationship. Through this process, we can begin to reconnect to our heart’s feelings, needs, longings, and desires so that we can begin to LIVE more fully as we are made and GIVE more fully wherever we are.
My counseling is informed by psychodynamic, attachment, and family systems theories, as well as what I have learned through my own recovery of heart.
